The University has decided to remain in online teaching and learning mode for the rest of Semester Two, regardless of Alert Levels. In an email to staff this morning, Vice-Chancellor Dawn Freshwater has cited that “that a degree of certainty is far preferable to the disruptions caused by opening and closing our campuses at short notice.”
“This will give our students and staff the ability to plan for the rest of the semester, particularly for the exam period starting at the end of October.”
Freshwater had advised that more guidance on this matter will be made available in due course.
On vaccinations, the Ministry of Health has approved a pop-up vaccination centre on City Campus from Saturday 11 September to Tuesday 14 September. Eligible students and staff will be invited to make a booking for their vaccination using a unique code. It is understood this facility will, in large part, cater to students at Halls of Residence.
The centre will be in the Sir Owen G Glenn Building, run by staff from FMHS and approved vaccinators from the Campus Pharmacy.
