Tim Batt kills in his latest NZ International Comedy Festival show, Classy Warfare. Two-time nominee of the Billy T Award and ½ host of The Worst Idea of All Time podcast, Tim finds the hilarity in being broke, doing drugs, and watching the 2019 movie Cats seven times in cinemas. The audience never gets a single moment to catch their breath from laughing out loud. Exuding the charisma and stage presence of an absolute pro, Tim jumps between personal stories, observations, and deep reflections (what is money? What is work? And what do horses think about?).
The final and funniest part of the show is on politics. Tim roasts Winston Peters and America with originality, before bringing everything together by discussing his own experience campaigning for Chlöe Swarbrick. Despite all the cynicism associated with politics and millennial angst, Tim leaves you hopeful, joyful, and inspired. For one hour in the Basement Theatre, he shows us how to laugh instead of cry in the political and economic shitstorm of Post-2020.
Though never as biting a criticism of capitalism as it could’ve potentially been, Classy Warfare is witty, relatable, and an uproariously good time.
Catch Tim if you can before tickets sell out! The boy needs your money.
