It was Panti’s first time in New Zealand and she quickly captured the audience’s attention with her playful and charismatic presence. In the queer-friendly environment, I engaged the crowd effortlessly with lighthearted questions that had the entire room laughing. One of my favourite moments was when she asked who the youngest and oldest audience were. It was a simple yet brilliant way to connect with everyone and create humorous experiences.

The stage design, lighting, and overall setting are perfectly aligned with her comedy line, complimenting and enhancing the humour. One particularly funny moment was when there was an awkward pause where she and the audience, including Panti, were waiting for the sound effect, which created a humourous moment and proved the smallest details contributed to the comedy.

Besides the humour, her show is really personal and related to her personal experience of how the gay communities changed over time, her feelings about those changes, especially as an Irish, and an unexpected trip with a substitute boyfriend wrapped with wit and fearless actions. Her storytelling made the performance feel intimate, which is all part of her adventure.

By the end of the show, the crowd was on their feet, giving her standing ovations. It was a performance that left us entertained and inspired
