Provisional locations of interest have been identified at both the Grafton and City campus after a University of Auckland student tested positive for Covid-19. As per email communication from Vice-Chancellor Dawn Freshwater, these locations have not been designated as formal locations of interest, although it is possible that some or all of them may be.
The student, first identified as a positive case last night, was at both the Grafton and City Campus on Friday August 13, Monday August 16, and Tuesday August 17. The Whitaker Block University Accommodation remains a provisional location of interest, as well as the classes STATS 101/101G/108, and several Stage 2 OPTOM classes. The student also walked through the Engineering building on Tuesday August 17.
ARPHS is currently activating its contact-tracing process and preparing letters that will be sent directly to anyone identified as a ‘close contact’ based on these locations, with guidance on what steps to take. Whilst these locations do not appear on the Ministry of Health’s website as of yet, indication is that they will be uploaded in the coming hours.
University Health and Counselling is currently not offering Covid testing. However, the University is working with ARPHS to establish a pop-up testing centre for students in Whitaker Block and Waipārūrū Hall.
