Josh Giddey hits a half-court shot to beat the Lakers in shocking fashion
Just another day of NBA action ends in dramatic fashion between the Bulls and the Lakers. But how did it all go down?
Wow, that might have been the craziest six seconds of an NBA game ever! Josh Giddey hits a miraculous shot to beat LeBron and the Lakers from beyond halfcourt. Game set match.
This game had everything from lead changes to clutch shots, and the finish didn’t disappoint. Down five with 12 seconds left, Patrick Williams hits a three from the corner to cut the Lakers lead to two. All LeBron had to do was make sure the ball got inbounded safely, and the game was all but done. That did not happen. Josh Giddey stole the ball like he had been doing all night and quickly passed it to rising star guard Coby White, who drained a three. Bulls lead by one.
This game wasn’t over though, as Lakers guard Austin Reaves, off a designed play, drives to the basket and lays it up to put the Lakers up one with just a few seconds left on the clock. With no timeouts, the Bulls needed a miracle shot, and boy, did they get one.
Josh Giddey, the player who just a few nights ago nearly had a quadruple-double, the player who has been playing some of his best basketball of late, gets the ball from the backcourt and heaves it from halfcourt as the buzzer sounds. The crowd and commentators fall quiet for just a second as the ball flies and falls into the hoop. The crowd is ecstatic as the final score reads 119-117. Bulls win.
The Bulls now have won four games in a row and are peaking at the right time, as the fight for the last few playoff spots is up for grabs. From being one of the most underwhelming teams this season to pulling off wins like this, the Bulls are finally putting it all together.
For the Lakers, however, their recent slump continues as LeBron’s game-winner from just the night before seems like a distant memory. They are now just 4-6 in their last ten games, and considering the playoffs are just around the corner, they will need to find some sort of momentum if they want to go far and bring another championship back to LA.
