We are excited to announce that our new archive page is now live, featuring every Craccum from 2024. These can be viewed here or at www.craccum.co.nz/archive. We plan to keep expanding our archive page to go back to at least 2017 and will post regular updates as progress is made.

For those who weren't around for last year's Craccum, I'll give you a quick crash course. Craccum was helmed by Kieran Panui and Kala Burgess in 2024. Their editorial vision was bold and ambitious. Back then, they published Craccum weekly and tackled a different theme each week. This was much more frequent than what previous years had attempted.

They established a brand identity for the magazine with the help of Visual Arts Editor Arianna Ramos. The fixed oval logo and the brand-coloured border are both legacies from 2024, which have continued despite our rebranding in 2025. Aside from her other responsibilities, she made 14 of the 22 covers, a monumental achievement. As someone who has made barely 3 Craccum covers (including Issue #13 2024) over the past 3 years, I can scarcely imagine doing such a feat on a weekly basis.

Craccum also launched a Podcast in 2024, which ran for #8 episodes before being discontinued for various reasons. It is currently lost media with the changeover to the new website, but if there is popular demand to preserve this piece of Craccum history, we'll look into re-uploading it. Here is a reel clip promoting the podcast. Craccum 2024 also introduced several new Editorial/staff positions, including Pasifika Editor, Environmental Editor, Horoscopes Editor, 2 x Podcast People and 4 x Interns. Unfortunately, due to funding reasons, not all of these positions could be offered again in 2025.

There was a lot of really great content made by my colleagues in 2024 (I was the Arts Editor). But my personal favourite article from 2024 would have to be the Uni Hack 2-parter by 2024 Features Editor Oliver Cocker, who showed how easy it was for people to be scammed by trojan horse QR codes around campus. He made a dodgy QR code promising an entry into a prize draw that actually stole your personal details, and over four hours, sixty-eight people got scammed. Be careful out there (read more in Issues 16 and 15 from 2024).

I hope that gives you some insight into 2024's Craccum back catalogue, although I've just scraped the tip of the iceberg. So, if you can't get enough Craccum 2025, enjoy our archive in the meantime.
